There is only so much I'll let you see.
There are more sides to me then appear to be.
I don't want to show you what's truly beneath my skin.
My true thoughts and the demons within.

They will only bring you down.
While they watch your happiness burn to the ground.
I want to spare you all this pain.
Therefore I'll keep all of me locked up in vain.

I can't afford to loose you.
Nothing of me will ever hurt you again.
I promise to keep it locked up, and hidden within.
Cover it up behind a mask with a false grin.

You'll never know the real me.
Only this person I pretend to be.
Not knowing who I really am,
Will never help you understand..

Understand why I want to protect you..
Because deep down, I actually care for you.
So much that I'll always try to keep you safe.
