Broken down and fixed
we danced around the fire
Bare and naked
underneath our clothes
The glow in your hair
is a vow that you’ll keep
For years to come
or at least till dawn
She says ‘Maybe I’ll remember
how the plants and weeds had grown
how the apple trees had rotten
and no-one reaped what you had sown.’
Settled down at last
we looked into the ashes
