Bashô Self-Irony.
When gods leave,
do from trees withered fall
leaves all ?!
Translation: ç™½ç‹ [MB771]
Matsuo Bashô, Japanese haiku poet (1644 - 1694).
"On the 100th anniversary of his death, the Shinto religious headquarters honored him by canonizing as a deity. 13 Years later the imperial court gave him similar status. He alone is known as a heisei, the saint of haiku. Today he is a recognized genius." [Jane Reichhold.]
