Dying in the Dreamland of light and shadow
From the bowels of the earth, following a path
winding upwards, behind the ancient gate. leaving the dim light behind, treading this path of darkness unknowing of my fate.
The pleasant stale air, shifts subtle to cloying, flowery sweetness— stuffy—unpleasant. Then warm, blinding light—like thousand needles— tore through me, torturous—a pain unknown, unyielding.
I withdraw in the shadows abiding slow ebbing time until light transformed into shade
Silently emerging from shadows, i gazed upon emerald thickets a formidable shield against sight
From afar buzzing sounds, swarms of pesky— honey laden bugs, circling above the colored fungus. In moist grey soiled dirt tiny lively crawlers, their teeming life a distasteful sight
As darkness blossomed shrill notes pierced the night. Fairies appeared, their dances a blur in the dimming light.
A lone fairy stirred ,silently, slowly moving aside. Focused on some distant shimmering lights.
A hunger coiled in my belly, a lingering taste from ancient memories, saliva wetting my lips
Crawling through thorned vines. A hunter on the move. Poised on my prey, i patiently wait
The fairy turned. Coil. Strike. Wings flared—a white flash —What?—then silence, then darkness.
