I survived Auschwitz
Frozen tears.
Suffocated feeling.
-
Every day, we walked past many people.
They looked at us with an empty gaze,
but no one saw us.
-
The devil had them under his control.
Insanity and weapons strengthened their power.
In desperation, we prayed and begged silently.
I survived Auschwitz.
-
Now it remains for me, for the rest of my life
to find a place for the incomprehensible.
Because I have to try and break through the silence
in me, so that tears may flow some day.
-
I remember all of them.
Every step, which they walked beside me.
Alone, I crawled under the barbed wire
and, without turning round, I ran away.
Towards a lifelong struggle.
