Me am eus avi ...
Menez-Yen goloet gant koabr gwenn
sioulded dre-holl -- troc'het diouzh ar bed
ur blueg e geot en deus mestr ar menez
ha nep kleuzeur-all nemet al Loar-gann
ur gwele e maen gant gwel war ur stank jadlivet
en deus ha tigred ha karved evel amezeien
me am eus avi ouzh joa e vuhez digenvez
pell amzer on bet un den a-zoare diavaez
Cold Mountain wrapped in white clouds
silence everywhere -- cut off from the world
the master of the mountain has a grass pillow
and only the bright full Moon for a lamp
a bed of stone facing a bluish-green pond
he has and tigers and deer for neighbours
I myself envy the joy of his secluded living
long I've been a person of outward appearance

"Cold Mountain only white clouds
silent silent cut-off dust/this-world
grass seat mountain master has
lone lamp bright Moon wheel/full
stone bed facing bluish-green pond
tiger deer each be neighbour
I-myself admire/envy secluded living joy
long be appearance outside person"
[căo] grass, herb [zuò] seat > implying a pillow,
but not a real one, like what comes next:
the full Moon as the only lamp he's got !!
>> kusa-makura in Japanese
Red Pine's note >> "The căo-zuò was used for seated meditation."
[dà o-căo] rice-straw [zhĕn-zuò] "cushion-seat" > seat-cushion
Red Pine's erroneous verse 8 >> "he remains a man beyond form",
but the last two verses are about the writer himself !!
