the chosen road

the road I am walking on
is starting to split in two
I need to choose a path
but it won't matter what I do

I sat at this fork in the road
thinking for so many years
I have seen both ends of the roads
and the bright one gives me fears

I chose my path
walking down it as I write
my words, not knowing if they are final
as I chose to give up the fight

It might take a while to
reach my destination
but at the end will be
my final salvation
