The caws of night ravens flash
like lightning into the dark.

"lightning -- / of-darkness direction going /
of-fifth-rank (bird) voice(s)."

Jane Reichhold says that the bird is a black heron and that
the scientific classification for this bird is Nycticorax nycticorax.
But this translates twice into "night raven" !!!
