Sonnet of Loneliness
Walking between people and watching around
the man on the corner with his shopping cart
with all his belongings, strolling downtown
asking for coins, rubbish bins knowing by heart
a woman on the bench of the village square
old an in a worn out coat, pigeons feeding
a young man besotted and fully freaked out
the bullied little girl, alone and weeping
loneliness doesn’t look for gender or age
so how has it happened and who is to blame
for some on their life’s journey this is a stage
for others they seek it like a moth his flame
or a dying star and just going backstage
in a hard world that has forgotten their name.
