We never had a chance

It could have been so wonderful, it could have been so good.
It could have been exceptional, if you would have understood.

That behind this wall of concrete, a scared heart hides away.
And underneath the surface, I wish, I hope, I pray.

That one day you will look at me and tell me to my face.
That although it has been ruff so far, we will see better days.

You want to give it all you got and we will fight side by side.
From now until eternity, you will be my love and pride.

But now I stand here all alone, and life has lost it’s glance.
You finally made me realize, we never had a chance!
